Attention Dover Skinnerites!!!

The Dover RV park security in Lot 2 would not let us in!

Yes… fans you are reading this right – We came over on a golf cart because JB takes the Tundra to the hotel with him after each race/practice day. We had our spotter Mike Swaim and his wife Karen with us – traveled from the infield all the way across the highway to your campground only to have the most rude man run over and tell us to leave. When we showed our hard cards and told him we just wanted to come in quickly to see our fans who were holding a bbq, they kept slobbering on their sandwiches and told us they really didn’t care. Then I asked if they could it least find you all and tell you that they would not allow us to come see you, they rudely told us they would not do such a thing. Then referred us to some sloppy dressed rude slob in a golf cart – so we politely tried to ask him if he would be kind enough to tell our nice fans that we were not allowed to come to see them and he was even worse than the other man! We were shocked at how rude they were, and how rude to Mike when he tried to ask them for help!

They then said the only way we could come is if we drove a truck in, parked across the street and walked our a**** in. So we then asked for the rude mans name so I can write a letter to the track president about how un-professional these men were and down right rude.

So I am asking all or you to do the same! Write letters to Dover Downs track president and express your disappointment that a driver could not visit his fans for 10 minutes!

The security “manager” name was Buddy Reed – we know this as his spelled it out for us being a smart ….well finish my sentence for me!

Sorry we could not see you – we tried very hard!

Thanks,

Angie

With a modest tone in his voice, Mike Skinner downplayed his chances at scoring his sixth straight NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Bud Pole Award following the conclusion of practice for the AAA Insurance 200 on Thursday afternoon at Dover International Speedway. The No. 5 Toyota Tundra team headed to Atlanta tied for the points lead. After coming off a win two weeks ago in California, Skinner and his Tundra team were looking to score two in a row.

Waiting around all morning on Friday due to rain, Skinner couldn’t wait for the rain to stop. With the clouds finally clearing and the sun coming out, the first and only practice session of the day would get underway. Running well right out of the box, Skinner and crew chief Jeff Hensley would make minor changes to the truck during the session. Getting faster by the minute, Skinner would wrap up practice and emerge as the quickest truck. Read More!

Skinner bumps Bowyer to win NCTS race at Atlanta
By Mike Harris, The Associated Press March 17, 2007

HAMPTON, Ga. -- Mike Skinner bumped past Clint Bowyer to take the lead on a restart seven laps from the finish Friday night and raced away to his second consecutive victory in NASCAR's Craftsman Truck Series.7SkinnerVictory.jpg (143973 bytes)

Todd Bodine, the defending series champion and last spring's winner at Atlanta Motor Speedway, followed Skinner past Bowyer to grab second place on Lap 124 of the 130-lap event, but the leader was just too strong, pulling away to a five-length victory, the 21st of his truck career.

"I think the No. 30 [Bodine] was probably the better truck tonight, but I was a little better on short runs and the cautions just kept coming out,'' said Skinner, who drives a Toyota Tundra. "I was fortunate to get by Bowyer on that restart and was just able to hold Todd off for those last few laps.'' Read More!

Skinner wins wild finish to Truck race

Mike Skinner took the lead with less than five laps to go on a crazy restart and made it stick to win the San Bernardino County 200 Truck Series race at California.

Mark Martin had the lead with five laps to go on a restart, as he tried to hold off Ron Hornaday. But Martin got off to a slow start and Hornaday spun Martin around as they took the green. Skinner flew around Hornaday and the caution immediately came out again.win.jpg (89376 bytes)

Skinner took the green with two to go and everyone dicing around behind him. He kept enough distance between him and Hornaday to seal the win.

Martin put himself out front and battled with Skinner for much of the race as the two quickest trucks. But when David Starr went spinning with less than 25 laps remaining, Martin stayed out while everyone else took tires.

The move proved to be problematic.

Martin managed to keep his old tires ahead of everyone else's new ones on the restart, but a fourth caution flew inside of 10 laps.

On the restart with nine laps remaining, Skinner immediately dove to the inside but couldn't make it stick. Hornaday shoved his nose into the picture and began racing Skinner, giving Martin room to build his lead.

But Starr blew a tire to bring out another caution to force the final battle between Martin and second-place Hornaday

Former series champion Mike Skinner jumped past Hornaday into the lead before the caution flag came out and stayed out front, earning his 20th Truck Series victory. Read More!

NASCAR is one of America’s fastest growing sports with 75 million fans around the country – 40 percent of them women. Good food, great racing stories, and classic race-day traditions are a key part of the NASCAR experience, both for fans and the racers themselves. In RACE DAY GRUB: Recipes from the NASCAR Family (Wiley; Cloth; $17.95; March 5, 2007), NASCAR wife Angela Skinner reveals all the insider secrets of the sport and brings the excitement and high-octane flavor of NASCAR races into the home kitchen.

Angela shares race-day routines and recipes from drivers, their families and their fans, including top racers like Kevin Harvick, Tony Stewart, Michael Waltrip, and her husband, star driver Mike Skinner. This fun, sporty book provides formulas for race-morning breakfasts, starters and snacks, main courses, sides and salads, desserts, and beverages. In addition, there is a chapter devoted exclusively to kid-friendly recipes for NASCAR's littlest fans.

Full-throttle flavor dishes range from Gran’s Cornbread to Spicy Beer-Brined Pork Loin and Lug-Nut Doughnuts. Angela has also collected a number of tasty Insider Recipes like David Starr’s Texas Hot Sauce, Elliott (Sadler’s) Race-Ready Rice, Katie Kenseth’s Cheesy Chicken Pot Pie, Martha Nemechek’s Sloppy Joes and Betty Jane France's Lemon Squares.

Angela provides helpful hints along the way to ensure a successful meal whether you are tailgating in an RV or entertaining friends at home. The Crew Tips offer advice on how to easily prepare and serve food with minimal fuss. For example, a Crew Tip for the Spicy Beer-Brined Pork Loin recommends letting the pork rest for 10 minutes after you remove it from the grill, which will seal in the juices. Angie’s Speed Tips help shorten meal preparation time with suggestions on how to cut corners on a recipe, such as, “I know this is lazy, but I really dislike cleaning shrimp. To save some time and ‘ickyness,’ ask the seafood department to clean the shrimp for you. They normally only charge an extra $2.00 per pound, and it’s worth the money!”

With 94 deliciously simple recipes and packed with full-color photos of food, drivers and tailgating legends, this book is a clear winner for racing fans and busy home cooks everywhere.

About the author Angela Skinner is the wife of NASCAR driver Mike Skinner, founder of the annual Skinner ‘Round Up Charity Event, and business manager for Mike Skinner Enterprises.  She tours the country with her husband each racing season.  Angie spent three years as a top sales executive for CBS Radio selling and promoting NASCAR events. Bill Davis Racing Test Session Update

Jeremy Mayfield and Mike Skinner hit the track on Monday morning for the first of three days of NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series testing at the World Center of Speed in Daytona Beach Florida. Both teams focused on single car runs during Monday's seven hour test session.

Jeremy Mayfield, in his first official outing behind the wheel of the 360 OTC Toyota, was near the top of the speed chart all day long. He and crew chief Derek Finley worked efficiently to try and make gains on the speed chart. The team methodically went through a number of different chassis and aero changes to their Camry to try and get the most speed out of it they could. By the end of day one, the 36 car was the second fastest on the speed chart with a time of 48.68seconds. The team's time was the fastest of five Toyota team's testing the two-and-a-half mile superspeedway.

Mike Skinner, who piloted the No. 23 Toyota Camry, worked on two cars to help the team decide which one they will run during Speedweeks 2007. Both cars made gains throughout the day and at the end of day one Skinner posted a time of 48.963 which put him 16th on the sheet. Skinner was the second fastest Toyota in day one of testing.

Both teams will be back in action tomorrow for another day of single car runs before turning their attention to drafting practice.

Skinner Leads Food Caravan To Second Harvest Food Bank

NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver and local Daytona Beach, Fla., resident Mike Skinner, behind the wheel of the Daytona 500 pace car, led a food caravan from Daytona International Speedway to the Second Harvest Food Bank on Thursday morning as part of the Volusia County Health Department's Fourth Annual Healthy Holiday Helpers Food Drive.

"It's Christmas time," Skinner said. "Anytime you can put a simile on one of our less fortunate citizens in Volusia County, put a meal in somebody's belly and put a simile on somebody's face during Christmas time, it is well worth it. It's a great thing being a part of it."

Food was collected and donated by Volusia County Health Department employees, Daytona International Speedway/ISC employees, Volusia County Government employees, Daytona Beach International Airport employees, Volusia County Sheriff's Office deputies, Daytona Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau, General Mills, US Foods and a number of community partners.
