Location: Lowe’s Motor Speedway – Charlotte, N.C.

  • NOTES:

* This week’s race truck for Lowe’s Motor Speedway is Chassis No. 5-78. This is the same truck Skinner ran earlier in the year at California, Atlanta and Kansas. * Points Leader… Skinner remains the NCTS point’s leader after finishing fifth in Kansas. He remains 108 points ahead of second place Todd Bodine in the Championship points.

· Pole Winner… Skinner not only sat on the pole last time out in the NCTS in Kansas, but he has also captured the pole position his last two starts at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. In the 2007 season Skinner has already captured three poles out of the first five races.

· Media Opportunity… Skinner will participate in a media day/golf outing this Wednesday, May 16 starting at the WIX Filters plant in Gastonia, N.C. Following a brief tour of the manufacturing facility with interview and photo opportunities, media members will be invited to play a round of golf with Skinner. The event is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. with the round of golf scheduled to start at approximately 1 p.m.

* Youth Automotive Training Center started by Southeast Toyota’s founder Jim Moran in 1984, will have one of their students on hand Friday night to follow a Toyota pit crew member. Jonathan Velez, a student from the YATC, will be shadowing the No. 5 Tundra team this Friday at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Jonathan lives in Deerfield Beach with his mother and two brothers. He has a high interest in cars, particularly high performance cars. He graduated Deerfield Beach High and was working part-time at UPS. He came to YATC because he wanted to improve his automotive knowledge and repair skills which he hopes will eventually lead him to become a full time technician. The goal of this program is to prepare young adults who are at a disadvantage in their lives to become self-sufficient, productive citizens. * Test and Tune… Skinner along with his BDR teammates tested last week at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Skinner remains the truck to beat, as he was at the top of the charts both days during the test session.

* Listen and watch … The Quaker Steak and Lube 200 presented by Circle K is scheduled to start at 9 p.m. ET Friday, May 18. It will broadcast live on Speed Channel (TV), MRN (radio) and Sirius Satellite Radio (Ch. 128).

  • Mike Skinner Racing Quotes:

Mike Skinner on racing at Lowe’s Motor Speedway:

“The test session went okay. We tried a lot of new things and our truck adapted to them well. I don’t know if I would say we were the cream of the crop, but we feel good about it going into Charlotte this week.”

“Charlotte has never been one of my favorite tracks, but we normally run pretty decent there, so we’ll see. Our strategy however is still the same, top-ten, top-ten, top-ten, nothing has changed on that end. Consistency seems to be paying off, so that is the route we are still taking.”
