Skinner and his No. 5 Toyota Tundra team have been on a roll so far this season and saw no reason to stop that streak at the series 300th race at Dover’s Monster Mile track this past weekend.

Going into the first practice session on Thursday afternoon, Skinner and his Tundra flew straight to the top of the charts. Changing the truck over to the qualifying setup, Skinner and his crew once again vaulted his way to the top during happy hour.

With stellar practice numbers under his belt, Skinner was more than ready for qualifying on 07dv2.jpg (83194 bytes) Saturday morning. After capturing five poles in a row, Skinner and crew chief Jeff Hensley wanted to make it six. Running an incredible time of 23.163 seconds, Skinner would capture his sixth straight pole, and his first at Dover.

Skinner took the green flag and led the field to its first lap. With many quick trucks up front, some would become too anxious and the first caution of the race would fly on lap one.

With the restart kicking off after many trucks were cleared off the track, Skinner would continue his dominance and lead the field for the first 23 laps. With his truck handling loose in and tight out, Skinner would maintain his second place position well until having to pit under green flag conditions on lap 97.

Taking four tires, fuel and an air pressure adjustment, Skinner would come back on to the track one lap down and in the twelfth position. Driving fast and keeping his cool, Skinner would eventually get his lap back as he would become the lucky dog as the caution would fly on lap 130.

Diving down pit road for four tires, fuel and a track bar adjustment, Skinner would restart in the ninth position on lap 134. Now handling a very loose truck, Skinner would have his hands full for the last part of the race. Brushing the wall many times due to the severe looseness of the truck, Skinner would do what his does best and drive his way to a seventh place finish, his eighth top-ten in eight races.

Skinner remains your NCTS point’s leader heading into next week’s event at Texas Motor Speedway. The race will be televised on SPEED Friday, June 8.
