Mike Skinner - Bill Davis Racing Event Preview
Race/Date: O’Reilly 200 – August 22, 2007
Location: Bristol Motor Speedway – Bristol, T.N.
  • NOTES:

* This week’s race truck for Bristol Motor Speedway is Chassis No. 5-87. This is the same truck Skinner ran at Texas Motor Speedway earlier this year as he took home a second place finish at the 1.5 mile track.

* Bristol Domination… Skinner not only captured the pole in 1995 and 1996 at the “Thunder Valley” half-mile track, but has an astounding 2.4 average starting position at the Bristol Motor Speedway. Skinner also put on a dominating performance in 2005 as he became the NCTS winner that year, leading all but five laps of the race. MI10.jpg (115366 bytes)

* Point’s Leader… Skinner remains your NCTS point’s leader after Nashville. He is now leading Ron Hornaday by 82 points. * Stats… Skinner leads the series in a number of categories. He has the top marks in Driver Rating (123.1), Average Running Position (4.4), Fastest Laps Run (357), Laps in the Top 15 (2,377 of 2,506) and Laps Led (912 laps, 1003.95 miles).

* It’s All In The Family… Not only is the tough to tame Bristol Motor Speedway one of Skinner’s favorite tracks, but Skinner even has a grandson named Bristol James Skinner; that was born earlier this year.

* Honorary Crew Member… Shira Hartsook will be joining the No. 5 Tundra team this Wednesday night. Hartsook is the Executive Producer for WJHL News Channel 11 in Johnson City, TN.

* Recap… Last time out in Nashville, in his 144th career NCTS start, Skinner captured his 40th career NCTS pole, while en route to his 70th top-five finish and the 90th top-10 finish of his incredible NCTS career.

* Listen and watch … The O’Reilly 200 is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. ET Wednesday, August 22. It will broadcast on the Speed Channel (TV), MRN (radio) and Sirius Satellite Radio (Ch. 128).

Mike Skinner’s Racing Quotes:
Mike Skinner on racing at Bristol Motor Speedway:

“I love Bristol. We had a great test there in July, so we should be pretty good Wednesday night. Bristol is a place where we are capable of winning, but really we are still just focused on top-10 finishes. We just need to get out of Bristol with all of our fenders on and if a win comes then great.”
