Mike Skinner – Toyota Tundra Racing Post Race Report
Race: New Hampshire 200 (Race 18 of 25) - Track: New Hampshire International Speedway - Date: Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007 - Started: Second
Finished: Third - Laps Completed: 200 - Total Laps: 200 - NCTS Points: Second

Mike Skinner and his No. 5 Tundra team were looking to regain the NCTS point’s lead this past weekend at Loudon’s 1.058 mile track in New Hampshire. Coming off a 28th place finish at Gateway last time out, Skinner lost the point’s lead for the first time in the 2007 season. Focused and determined to get it back, Skinner and his crew were going to do all they could at Loudon.

Practicing well and running atop the charts during each practice session on Friday afternoon, Skinner looked as if he was ready to take on the field during qualifying. Due to Mother Nature, though Skinner and the rest of the field would have to line up by points for the start of Saturday’s afternoon race. At the drop of the green flag, Skinner maintained his position well on the track. Doing all he could to try and get by the No. 33 truck of Ron Hornaday, Skinner would ride for most of the race in the second position. At least until the caution flag flew on lap 39. Skinner radioed over to his crew that he was tight in the middle and needed an adjustment.

Skinner dove down pit road for four tires, fuel, a trackbar and wedge adjustment. With his No. 5 Tundra pit crew doing an amazing job, Skinner would get the jump off pit road and restart the race as the leader on lap 43.

Leading the field for the next 10 laps, Skinner looked as if he might be able to hang on, however his Tundra would once again become tight. Fighting to stay within the top-three, Skinner was driving his heart out and hoping a caution would come soon.

On lap 126, Skinner would be forced to make a green flag pit stop along with the rest of the field. Taking four tires, fuel and making an air pressure adjustment, Skinner would restart the race in the third position with 70 laps to go.

Trying to keep pace with the leader, while fighting for his position on the track under a long green flag run, Skinner would end up finishing the 200 lap race in the third position.

Skinner will head to Las Vegas, Nevada next week along with the rest of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in hopes of winning again as he is the defending winner from last year. The race will be televised live on SPEED, Saturday, September 22.
