Second Annual “Toyota Tundra Skinner Round Up” Raises $145,000
HIGH POINT, N.C. (Oct. 1, 2007) – The second annual “Toyota Tundra Skinner Round Up,” hosted by NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Mike Skinner and his wife, Angie, raised more than $145,000 for Daytona Beach, Fla., area charities, including the Council on Aging: Meals on Wheels, Second Chance Animal Rescue, Safe
Kids Coalition and Greyhound Pets of America. The event, held Sept. 27-28, was expanded to two days this year after a successful first event in 2006.
Festivities began Thursday with the “Hoe Down Bash” at Daytona International Speedway’s Boardwalk Pavilion. Over 700 guests enjoyed displays from Daytona Toyota and EZGO Golf Cars, live and silent auctions, numerous fundraising activities and live music from Big Engine of Jacksonville, Fla. Guests also tempted
their taste buds at the “Taste of Daytona Alley,” in which Daytona’s finest restaurants provided samples of their amazing entrees.
Friday’s events included the star-studded Golf and Poker Tournaments. Celebrities hit the links at Spruce Creek Country Club, then placed their bets at the Celebrity Poker Table. With 156 golfers and 100 poker players in attendance, it was an interesting and competitive day. The Celebrity Poker Champion this year was
recording artist Stacey Mitchhart, who bested Mike Skinner, NHRA driver Matt Smith and NASCAR’s Betty Jane France in a final four battle.
Recording artist and American Idol finalist Bo Bice, NASCAR drivers Rick Crawford and Steve Park, NHRA driver Scott Kelley, Daytona International Speedway President Robin Braig and World Series of Poker Champion Brian Wilson were also among the participating celebrities.
The Skinners wish to thank Toyota Tundra for its continued support and for serving as title sponsor of the Toyota Tundra Skinner Round Up for the second consecutive year.
