> REDBULL RACE RECAP: PHOENIX INTERNATIONAL

Subway Fresh Fit 500” TRACK: Phoenix International Raceway, Avondale, AZ
DATE: April 12, 2008 RESULTS: No. 83 Brian Vickers (Start 33rd, Finish 25th) and No. 84 Mike Skinner (Start 25th, Finish 28th) + AHH … A WEEK OF REST (SORT OF)

Want to get away? Red Bull Racing Team sure does, especially after the flat performance at the flat track in Phoenix on Saturday night. Most Sprint Cup drivers fall off the grid during an off week, so don’t expect to hear much out of Brian Vickers and AJ Allmendinger this week because things will be quiet until the two crank up their Red Bull Toyotas on April 25 at Talladega. Mike Skinner, however, will be racing. After spending a few days in NoCal’s wine country, Skinner will attempt to defend his title in the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race in Long Beach, Calif. As for the Subway Fresh Fit 500, Vickers’ No. 83 improved eight positions from 33rd to 25th. Skinner, in his last run in the No. 84, lost three spots from 25th to 28th. Vickers sits 19th in points — only 81 points out of the top 12. After five races out of the No. 84, the driver standings are lost on Allmendinger, but owner points aren’t. The No. 84 is 111 points out of the top 35 in 40th as Allmendinger returns to his ride at Talladega.

QUOTES Mike Skinner, driver No. 84: “This 84 team is gaining on it. We are making baby steps. I'd like to see us gain on it a lot faster than we did. We took five of my best race tracks and didn't get that great of a finish in any of them. Talladega is a good place to put AJ back in the car. The handling doesn't come in to play and it's just all car and driver. He'll do a good job of drafting for us. I'm not done with this race team. I don't know if I'll be back to drive the car any this year or not, but I know that I'm going to be a part of this race team in one capacity or another. It's an unfinished project – a work in progress. I want to see this team get competitive.

Brian Vickers, driver No. 83: “We have a lot of work to do on these types of flat tracks. The guys had a good day in the pits and kept at it all day but we were never able to overcome the lose condition. Nothing seemed to correct it, no matter how hard we tried. It will be nice to have an off weekend and come back to Talladega refreshed and ready to go.” ”

NEXT UP: Talladega Superspeedway, Sunday, April 27
